SMTC
SMTC provides better, faster and more cost-effective solutions to our customers’ most challenging design for excellence (DFx) problems.
Founded in 1985, SMTC Corporation is a mid-size provider of end-to-end electronics manufacturing services (EMS) including PCBA production, systems integration and comprehensive testing services, enclosure fabrication, as well as product design, sustaining engineering and supply chain management services. SMTC facilities span a broad footprint in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China. SMTC services extend over the entire electronic product life cycle from the development and introduction of new products through to the growth, maturity and end-of-life phases.
Lean manufacturing, continuous flow lines, key performance metrics, 5S, supplier quality, in process inspection tools, on-line work instructions, robust acceptance test plans, flying probe test, in-circuit testing, functional testing, environmental test, executive management oversight, in-house training, and rigid ESD controls are all evident inside the walls of our plants.
While we are experts in electronics manufacturing services, our customers look to us to provide valuable resources and insight necessary to help them grow. Our team understands lean manufacturing and deploys business management strategies to improve manufacturing processes while eliminating defects. Our Technical Services group of highly experienced engineers provides recommendations on testing and additional steps necessary to protect the final electronic product. Each of our facilities is dedicated to system assembly and box build services. SMTC even provides order fulfillment services including direct order processing, pick and pack and final product configuration.
SMTC has partnered with our key Electronic Component Distribution and has implemented In-Plant Stores (IPS). These are operated by the distribution partners and all material sourced with them are pipelined through the stores. The inventory is owned and managed by the on-site distributors. SMTC initiates a pull from the store once the product is scheduled to be built (24 hours before build date). SMTC takes ownership of the inventory when the pull has been transacted.
